Antique Key Necklaces

January is now upon us. I've been busy with a mix of crafts. A little photography, collage boards and jewelry. I've now completed 4 of my inspiration/collage boards. They are all currently on display at the Greenville Public Library for the month of January, along with some of my jewelry and photographs. I have some ideas for what my 5th board will be but I'm not in the design phase just yet.

                                                               4th Inspiration Board

I have started up jewelry making again. After talking with a friend about her project with skeleton keys it inspired me to finally track some down and make my own items. I had thought about doing this for years but it just never happened. I have far too many projects in my head, and unfortunately many never come to be. So I hunted through antique stores in Connecticut and Rhode Island and found some beautiful treasures. I ended up with a mix of antique keys, and I've made 5 necklaces to date. I have more in the works and I've already sold a few, and kept a couple for myself of course. I will be posting them all on my Etsy Shop by February. Feel free to contact me regarding any custom necklaces. This has re-sparked my interest in jewelry, and I plan to continue making jewelry with skeleton keys and other antique inspired items.

I only have a couple new astronomy photos. I just posted a photo of the waning moon and played around with it to make an inverted version of the photo. For some reason the inverted version reminds me of Jupiter's moon, Io. I also have a few new photos of the skeleton keys I'm using. I try to photograph each key before using it for a jewelry creation. Lastly, I have a dance album on my facebook page from a recent photo shoot. I hope to have more astronomy photos in the coming months, as long as we don't have large amounts of snow fall. I hope to capture the Pleiades and the Orion Nebula.

As always, for the most up to date info and photos of my projects please visit Dreamland Photography & Creations on Facebook. Thanks for stopping by.

Inspiration Boards

Another month has passed. I'm still a bit behind on my astronomy, photography and other things. I have not physically been able to carry my telescope gear due to an accident I was in. In the mean time I've been doing some research and testing out some settings for certain gear.

With this down time from certain hobbies I have picked up yet another hobby. I am now making Inspiration/Collage Boards. I have made 2 and plan to start designing a 3rd one soon. The first one I plan to keep, as it was created in memory of my great grandmother. The 2nd one was just put up for sale in my Etsy shop, Dreamland Creations. I plan to incorporate my photography in some of these boards, as I did on the second one. I always enjoyed making paper collages growing up, and scrap booking never interested me, so this just seemed like a perfect fit for my next hobby. I've lost count of how many crafts I do at this point.

My first inspiration board, in memory of my great grandmother.

My second inspiration board, this one is for sale in my Etsy shop.

For the month of November I will be displaying some of my photography at the North Scituate Library in Rhode Island. I have some new photo edits on my Facebook Page. They are before and after photos of some editing work I did from a recent wedding. That's about all that is new at Dreamland for now. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to my other hobbies/crafts in the near future.

A busy month, VIEW Conference & more.

The Sky without light pollution. The only good thing about Hurricane Irene!
Hi Everyone,

Here goes blog entry #2. August was a very busy month, and I fell behind on all things astronomy. I've been hunting for particular nebulae but unfortunately my trees are in the way. Hurricane Irene came through and we were without power for days, so that didn't help. However the night sky was beautiful without all the light pollution. I could see nearly triple the stars with the naked eye. I was at least able to get out there to take a few basic star shots, minus my telescope, the night of the hurricane. Recently I was able to capture M27 The Dumbbell Nebula. I've been trying to get new photos of M101, The Pinwheel Galaxy, because there is a supernova visible in the galaxy. Unfortunately that is also behind my trees. If I'm lucky I will be able to get some shots from another location if the skies are clear again soon, it's not often you can capture a supernova.

I've added a few new photos to my portfolio. Stars and some classic cars. I plan to work on more of those during the month.

For those of you that are interested in photography, lighting, digital cinema, arts etc. I heard about a great conference that will be held in Italy this October. It is called the View Conference. There will be some great guests there, including Sharon Calahan. She is the director of Photography and Lighting for Pixar Studios and has been with them since 1994. She has worked on films such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Wall-E and other great Pixar movies. There are also contests for those of you that make animated short films. For more information check out their website http://www.viewconference.it/

I came across some really neat sculptures today at a local shop. The shop is kind of a combination of 3 places. There is wood working, antiques, stained glass and pottery. If you're in Rhode Island check out http://joedanella.com/NEW/

Happy Fall (almost) to everyone!

Dreamland's New blog & Website

For those of you who are new to the site here is some background. I have way too many hobbies, and not enough time for all of them. My hobbies include: Photography, Sculpting, Stained Glass, Jewelry, Knitting & other miscellaneous creations. I have been busy redesigning my website. There is still a little work to be done and you may notice minor changes. Please let me know if something is not working correctly.

I recently added a new wedding portfolio, Heidi & Mark. I am in the process of adding many of my space photos, which were previously only on my Facebook page. I have photographed many phases of the moon, sun, galaxies, star clusters and nebulae through my telescope. I'm hoping to capture more nebulae in the coming months. I have some shaky video of the moon and sun taken through a telescope. I will be posting those on You Tube soon. The first one is below.

I plan on adding a variety of new photos in the next month.

I have been working on a Fairy Sculpture. I hope to get back to sculpting soon. I have been too busy with other projects to work on her recently.
